Happy New Year to all our members, Friends and Sympathisers.
Not a very eventful year, we were expecting at least 3 or 4 by-elections if not more, but not to be. The one that did happen was Runcorn on the 1st of May. I was the candidate scoring 128 votes. Much to the delight of Nigel Farage, for his ‘Reform’ party won, but by only 6 votes after 3 recounts. I know for a fact that of our votes at least more than 20 were ex Labour voters. It had been a staunch Labour seat for many a year.
So we are held in high esteem by Mr Farage, cause if we had not have stood he would not have won!
Earlier in the year I spent a long weekend In Ledbury Hertfordshire preparing for our 2025 conference at ‘The Barn’. We held it the last week in September, all went very well thanks to Robin Oakey and his team.
June 16th was a very special day for me, apart from being my birthday, myself and the party were honoured by a montage displayed in my local J D Wethersoon, the Prince Arthur, Fleet. Not just one picture but a whole wall, kind courtesy of Sir Tim Martin. The full story can be read in the latest Wetherspoon magazine out now page 76, phenomenal publicity for us.
The Conference 2026 I’m pleased to announce so early, so no excuse for being late, will be held back in Belper Derbyshire, we have been invited back, we like it there and they like us obviously.
