Loony bits and pieces

We are well into the New Year now. I did my usual stint in Malta and in Bath. Unfortunately I was whisked away from the Bath Ball on Monday morning by ambulance, ended up in Bath Royal Hospital with Pneumonia.   All’s well, up and running, and looking forward to some exciting times ahead.

Were all geared up to stand in the Welsh Assembly on May 5th, a lot of time and hard work has been put into this by ‘The Flying Brick’ and ‘The Good Knight Sir Nosda’, well done boys! We will be standing in all five regional seats which will entitle us to our first Party Political Broadcast, but only on Welsh Television mind you!!! The filming is now in its final stages, you can bet your life that this will be the only PPB that people will dash home to turn on. There are also some County, District, Town and Parish elections up and down the country on the same day. If any member is thinking of standing, don’t forget that you must get an authorisation paper from our Nominations Officer to be able to use our name! call 07946292557 with your details.

Our Co-ALE-ition beer range was a very successful enterprise, the amount of publicity the party gleaned from this venture was phenomenal.

Although the mainstay has now come to an end, we have just heard that our Blond Ambition, the pump clip with our Leader and Boris Johnston on, is about to be launched in the ‘Strangers Bar’ at the House of Commons, sometime in April. Our thanks to all the brewers that joined in with us, 12 in all, some sold well and some not so, but that’s the name of the game, so its said. Thanks also to JD Wetherspoon for their support, and especially Derrill Carr, it was his idea initially, he was the brains behind whole operation and a grand job he made of it.

Moving on further into the year now, our next Conference is once again up in Blackpool, the ‘Dreamland at Margate’ idea didn’t come off, but no need to think that it wont some other time. Also our friend Dale Rowles has some contacts and venues for the future.

The deal is the same as last year, Uncle Toms Cabin, same accommodation, Vince Ripper and The Rat, the man who sings about Cameron, oh yes, Badaxe, that’s him, plus many more, even the bus is already booked. Thanks to Tony (I drive the buses) Davies. The conference is from Thurs 29th September to Saturday 1st October.

Simon and Rhona in the New Guilderoy Hotel are well pleased, and don’t forget once they are full Simon can sort you elsewhere. Jo in UTC was over the moon, even the newspapers are wanting quotes from me already. They are saying that the impact that we caused last year can and will be much bigger this time around, it seems that everybody is on our side!
The Howling ‘Laud’

On a sadder note I have to report the passing of one of our staunchest followers, Chris Black. Chris was with us up at the Leicester South By-election some time ago. He was probably one of the best authentic Rock’n’Roll guitarists this country had. He was on a lot of records as a session guitarist, played and performed with Screaming Lord Sutch on many occasion. I can remember Chris, myself, David and Mungo Jerry doing a riverboat shuffle on the Thames, we changed the name of ‘In the Summertime’ to ‘In the Sausage Time’ to coincide when the French were rubbishing our home grown sausages. If any of you knew him, he had the most infectious smile, and that’s how I like to remember him
So Long my Friend.
Howling.
