Royal Bank of Scotland reports a loss of £3.6bn for 2009, but is set to pay bonuses totalling £1.3bn to its staff. But the bank’s head, Stephen Hester, said it had lost money by not paying big bonuses to retain productive staff. A Loony Party spokesperson pointed out “If the productive staff have left and all we have is unproductive staff(who have only lost £3.6bn), why are they getting £1.3bn for losing money? bearing in mind it was the productive staff who got us into this mess in the first place.”
