KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAHowling has officially become the first ever political party leader to become a member of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and he is already actively campaigning and making a real (ale) difference.
Howling has given his full support to the campaign to freeze beer duty in the budget later this month but has gone a step further and proposed to CAMRA that beer duty should be reduced not just frozen.
Howling pointed out that it was the OMRLP who first campaigned for all day pub opening hours which was seen as loony at the time but is now the law. Alan also flagged up that his latest Co-ALE-ition partner was a Green micro brewery and by drinking Wild Weather’s HowlinGale you were helping to save the planet.
Emily Ryan (CAMRA Campaigns Manager) has written to Alan this week thanking him for his long standing (30 years in the pub trade) valued support for beer and pubs. Emily goes on to say in her letter, “We have been following  the success of your Party’s Co-ALE-ition initiative with interest and we are pleased to see how well the beers are doing.” Finally Emily says regarding CAMRA’s latest freeze beer duty campaign, “Lets hope the Govt once again listens to reason and follows your lead.”
Kevin Travers (CAMRA’s Deputy Regional Director for Surrey) who attended the main Co-ALE-ition launch event back in Sept 2013 at the Prince Arthur in Fleet also wrote to Howling this week, “That’s good, cant get too much support and profile raising.
Howling has been contacted from the equivalent of the China branch of CAMRA they call it CAMLA over there, which stands for Campaign for Loony Ale.
