Badger had a good Loony send off with a mix of family, Loonies, and fellow transplantees.
I never knew that Badger not only represented Britain at the ‘transplant games’ but was a multiple medal winner – including gold. He was so liked that a transplant team mate travelled all the way from Scotland to attend. After the cremation service we all went to the wake at Walton on Thames Working Man’s Club where there was a good spread of food and drink.
Once all the lightweights had gone Lady Helen, RU, Chinners and myself with the a-fore mentioned Scotsman tried to drink the club out of bottled real ale but once we realised that we were beaten decided to do the Loony thing and go for a curry.
We never made it as we were waylaid by Persian restaurant where the owners son turned out to be a fan of the Loony party. He was happy after getting a selfie with us, we were happy after getting an excellent meal and most importantly we did Badger proud celebrating his life.
Chinners coined a great new phrase ‘BE MORE BADGER’.
