Conference run down – from the Guvnor

Once again a conference with a difference, Loonies from all over the country descended upon the White Hart Hotel Uttoxeter,from as far away as Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Lancashire, Hampshire.
The town didn’t know what to expect when I arrived, 10 days before to get it all set up, I was told “you’ve come to the right place here”and they weren’t wrong, the townsfolk took to us with open arms especially one called ‘Dozy’ he helped spread the word.In fact it was also said, that “Uttoxeter dosn’t have a carnival anymore, could we come back every year and create this carnival atmosphere”. Nevertheless we all enjoyed the main 3 days, the Cabinet Reshuffle caused as many laughs as usual,the ‘Politics UK Team’ found it ever so hilarious.The newspapers and radio’s all helped with their usual media hype,well done to them, and TV, although not there in person gave us coverage clips thoughout the week !
Of course we must thank our entertainers, mostly Party Members. We started off with ‘Gripper and the Gurnards’ followed by ‘BB Blackdog SteamPunk Band’ on Fri night followed by an amazing set of high powered Celtic Rock on Sat performed by ‘Shamus O’blivion’ and the ‘Megadeth Morrismen’.
Of course ‘The Big Fibbers’ performed both nights also, well done boys, dont know where they come, from but they seem to turn up every year,I think they must be Loony Party Stalkers. Not forgetting the two local Morris Dance Teams that escorted us around town on our walkabout come pub crawl, ‘The Black Pigs’
and ‘Bakanalia’.
A good time was had by all,looking forward to next, dont know where or when yet, but you’ll find out in good time. I did receive a few apologies from Party Members who couldn’t make it for various reasons, thankyou! But,But,But, we certainly have more members who weren’t there. Where were you?? Dont miss out next time !
Watch out for ‘Mad Hatters Tea Party’ spring time next year !
