The count was poorly organized and didn’t finish until 07.00 on Friday.To make it even worse the bar only sold cold fizzy ‘beer’ and closed at 11, but apart from that it was a great campaign. I polled 329 votes an increase of 60 over the last election and a 0.1% swing towards Lunacy.
The hustings were the best bit as it’s impossible for a Loony candidate to lose at these. The downside was the independent candidate who had no sense of humour and the green candidate who refused to back my call for a dodo sanctuary to be built in the constituency. Sir Nicolas Soames who won the seat for the Tories was as usual a great supporter of the Loony cause as were the Labour UKIP, Lib-Dem and Green candidates.
Popular policies were, votes at 16, zebra crossings to be opened up to all animals, key issues to be dealt with only by locksmiths and Green issues to be treated with penicillin.
