2014_4455_Waggon_and_Horses_5_Jul_017The first ever Co-ALE-ition signed and framed certificate (designed by Chinners) was presented to Niall Scott (Landlord of the Waggon and Horses pub in Hartley Wintney) on Saturday 5th July 2014. This presentation was originally scheduled to take place on Thursday 3rd July when we went to the Waggon and Horses as part of the launch of Monsters In The Dark, but Niall was not available he had gone to bed early so we left a message for Niall with Phil the barman “UKIP, whilst the Loony’s drink Monsters In The Dark”.
The presentation took place at The Waggon and Horses in front of lots of Niall’s customers and friends and marked the achievement of the Waggon and Horses becoming the first pub to sell 5 different Co-ALE-ition ales i.e. Longdog’s Winning Co-ALE-ition (recently sold in The Strangers Bar at the Houses of Parliament), Ascot Ales’ Hope & Glory, Wild Weather’s HowlinGale, Mash brewery’s Monster Mash and Ascot Ales’ Monsters In The Dark have all featured at the Waggon and Horses so only Langham’s Co-ALE-tion Gold is left now to complete the full set.
Niall was clearly overwhelmed but very pleased, he had tears in his eyes as he made space on the wall of the main bar in the Waggon and Horses to hang up his latest accolade. Lots of people were taking photos on their cameras and it was a great occasion.
Niall Scott has been one of the greatest supporters of Co-ALE-ition ales, the Waggon and Horses has been in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for many years and in 2013 was voted Pub of the Year by CAMRA’s North Hants branch.
